Kay Johnson-Lloyd

Lead Podiatrist

Kay studied Podiatry at Salford University qualifying in 1990. She worked in community and hospital podiatry in Central Manchester after graduation and developed interests in diabetes and biomechanics. During her time in Manchester Kay became a clinical and research member of the internationally renowned Manchester Diabetic Foot Team lead by Professor Andrew Boulton and was part of the team that developed the first Diabetic Foot Screening and Education Programme.

Kay then moved to York to lead the Hospital High-Risk Foot Service in York and delivered wound care. She subsequently enjoyed increasingly senior clinical roles in Tameside and South Manchester then studied for a Master’s degree and for a period moved to NHS management and then private consultancy where she supported clinical teams to measure and improve the quality of healthcare provision.

Following a period of refreshment Kay chose to return to clinical practice and in 2012 started the Cheshire Foot Clinic in Knutsford. She has subsequently developed a thriving private practice delivering a highly regarded, patient-focused general podiatry service and receives referrals from general practice and secondary care colleagues as well as self-referring patients.

Kay delivers a full scope of general and high-risk podiatry including:

  • Biomechanical assessment, orthotic prescription and manufacture

  • Nail surgery

  • Lower limb neurological and vascular assessment

  • Wound care, assessment, diagnosis and treatment

  • Diabetes foot screening

  • Verrucae treatments including needling

  • Patient education

  • Joint and soft tissue mobilization

  • Lower limb rehabilitation

  • Routine podiatry assessment and treatment

Kay also has practising privileges at 52 Alderley Road, Wilmslow and is able to refer private patients for diagnostic tests such as ultrasound, Xray and MRI.

In her spare time Kay enjoys riding her horse (Solo), keeping fit and walking her Golden Retriever (Teddy) and Cavapoo (Chewy).
